The two became immediate friends, and Samye lost no time in introducing her brother Mike to her favorite pony. Even then, the Pinto Pony came to represent the carefree, genuine, and often elusive aspects of life toward which we all strive. The pleasant memories of this good-natured little horse became inextricably woven into the fabric of Samye's life as the years passed. Thus, her brother Mike and her husband, Tom, were not surprised when Samye suggested the new name for the bakery and emporium: THE PINTO PONY!

Throughout history, humankind has had an ongoing attraction to the majestic, multi-colored breed of horses appropriately named Pinto Pony. Their markings were of such unusual beauty that they appeared in Middle Eastern art from ancient times. Pinto Ponies with their unique patches of color were found in Europe as early as the Roman Empire, and were brought to North American by the Spanish during the 1500s. The breathtaking appearance of these animals caught the attention of Native Americans, who believed that the Pinto Pony was capable of legendary, magical qualities in battle, and thus, much to be desired. Today, the Pinto Pony adds extra glamour to parades, movies, and events occurring on special occasions, and are treasured by their owners.
